PETA
I don't know if you all have heard.....if you've been watching the news you probably have.....but I'm a big supporter of PETA. We are making a major push right now to force KFC to change the way that they do business. I hope you guys will all take a minute to check out the PETA website and lend a hand.

I watched your "against KFC" movie yesterday. It was a little shocking to watch the entire clip. I agree with most of your sentiments and in the cases where the chickens are absolutely abused I do agree, but like cows and pigs and even fish they are truly bred to be part of our food chain (for better or worse).
Why are they any different than say wheat or corn? Do they not get run through a "thrasher"? Are they not beaten and ground down to make flour? Do plants not have feelings? Its a tough arguement to make, I think, or rather a tough argument for me to accept. I'm all for animal rights, but I get hungry too! (LOL)
I will likely NOT goto KFC anymore, but, purely because of health reasons not necessarily because of your movie (sorry).

I'm a meat eater too, but there are humaine ways of treating animals as well as killing animals for food. I agree with Pamela that the food industry needs to develop higher standards for ethical treatment of animals. How can you argue with compassion for life? It wouldn't take much to make the quality of life for these animals better. In addition, it would be healthier for the people who eat the animals; eating stressed-out animals all the time can't be good for your health. Thanks Pamela for supporting a worthy cause.

Pam, I read that you have decided not to meet with any reps from KFC to discuss their treatment of chickens, and I think you are making a huge mistake. No offense but you look a little cowardly when you continue to launch your attacks against them through the PETA website and in letters to KFC. If you have such a strong case, then go look them in the eye, present your case and make fools out of them all. Just please don't turn into one of these Hollywood elites who use nothing but hit-and-run tactics to attack others. Stand up to them.

I think Pam is wonderful for what she is doing.
Pam, I was curious how "Medieval Times" takes care of their horses. If you know I would appreciate a message about it. I went to Medieval Times in Annehiem a couple of months ago, but aside from all the entertainment, I could not stop thinking how the animals are treated. I am gonna search the PETA site and perhaps if there is no knowledge about Medieval Times maybe that could be the next project.
Again, if there is information about that I would really appreciate it.

I just saw the video of KFC. unfortunatly i dont think this issue would get resolved to the likings of me, you and many others. they can be helped, and we can all hope.

I mean, who is to say they will keep the changes long after the agree to change?
Posted by: jen | May 5, 2005 10:51 PM
I saw the do not test/do test list.
At my job, Beauty Express we were expected to sale as much Joico products as possible for a contest. thank God Joico does not do animal testing. I wonder about Redken?

Down with KFC. May they be reborn as chickens on their own farms! The human digestive system isn't really built to eat meat. Our digestive systems are built for vegetables and fruits. Meat actually hurts our bodies. I wonder who was the first human to decide to eat meat? Maybe some crazy person who liked the smell of burning flesh and decided to eat it. We should educate and have more veggies and fruits for better bodies and minds. Just some food for thought...

well done for raising some awareness about the abuse of animals. Many of my friends are Vegan (though I am not) and I think that if people want to eat meat, they should be able to do the killing themselves so they understand the whole act of eating meat.
companies like KFC and McDonalds are supporting a giant death machine that is horrific to think about. the more people know about it, the better chances for change.

Pam-
I have always adored you but even more so when you began your work with PETA. The animals need someone with a voice...thank you for being that person.
I have been vegetarian for about 6 years and I just don't understand why people would not only put the flesh of animals into their bodies but all the things that are pumped into them such as hormones, antibiotics, etc.
Thanks for bringing this to light...any chance you would want to tackle the situation in Denver with the genocide of Pit Bulls?

i don't know which is worse - the way KFC (and most of the poultry industry, to be fair) treats the birds...or that so many people actually still eat that crap.
mad mad mad mad world we live in when a family of four decides to dine on a bucket of grease and call it supper.

you are my hero!!! i work for peta, and i am, of course a vegan. your work is invaluable to us, and it is greatly appeciated. here are some more sites anyone can and should check out. www.furisdead.com www.cowsarecool.com www.caringconsumer.com
www.goveg.com
www.jlodown.com

please please do what you can to save the lives and end the suffering of these poor innocent animals. as for the guy who asked about what vegitables feel, realize that they dont have a central nervous system, and are not capable of feeling pain. they have no cerebral cortex, and are incapable of suffering. if you are drinking milk, you are supporting the veal industry. there is so much information out there, so watch the videos, and learn what suffering and pain you can alleviate by choosing to not consume animal products. by leather free shoes, and cruelty free products. speek up for those who cannot speak up for themselves, and go veg!
love you pam, may you have the most succes in all your endevors!!!

Hi,
Cruelty against animals with PETA is an interesting cause to fight for. PETA doesn't propose non-killing. AFAIK it fights for mercy-killing and humane treatment of animals. Either way they end up dead. I have moral support for this cause though personally I think there are slightly more important causes that are begging for attention from crowd-pullers and that includes you, very much.
In US there is a lot of opposition by fundamentalist groups against progress of science like Embryonic Stem Cell research or organ cloning. It is earth-is-flat days all over again. And then there are even stupider attempts to "teach" adam-eve theory guised as "intelligent design".
It would definitely help lots of people worldwide if humanity and science can enlist your support for such causes.
Let me know what you think.

I don't know what's your problem lady, but I believe that God invented the world (including animals and plants) for us (human) to enjoy. By eating meat, or chicken, or even by wearing fur, we do not destruct the world, or making any imbalance. Instead we're balancing the world. We grow those animals for meat, skins, or fur, so why not fulfill their destiny that God has set on them, "for us to enjoy".
If eventually all people stop eating meat, what do you expect will happen? Every human being and animals will live hapily ever after? No!People will stop grow chicken, and eventually their species will be gone, by nature, like food-chain.
In other case, by the way, using rare animals for food, skins, fur, horns, or anything that may caused the end of the species should be forbidden....
Last, doctors and nutritionists suggest human to have enough protein, and clearly, plantation contains not enough protein. The effects might not look very apparent, but when you're lack of protein, you can't grow muscle, and eventually you'll be weak.
I suggest to all vegetarian to consume enough protein from dairy, eggs, or if you don't eat anything from the animals, please consume protein suplements.
